About PEITZ
For decades, the PEITZ brand (Fahrzeug GmbH Paderborn) was one of the dominant manufacturers of car trailer running gear in Europe. Known for their solid construction and technical reliability, Peitz components still form the backbone of many older quality trailers today. Although the company became part of the BPW Group back in the 1990s, which in turn now belongs to AL-KO, demand for spare parts remains unbroken thanks to the enormous longevity of the running gear.
Technical milestones and classics
Peitz running gear is characterised by a clear, mechanical design that is valued for its high load capacity in the commercial and private sectors.
- Overrun couplings (PAV & AVM): The PAV series (e.g. PAV/SR) is one of the safest systems of its time. Replacement overrun dampers and bush sets are essential for preserving the value of these classics.
- Wheel brake technology (R series): The R 234-76 wheel brake is one of the best-selling brakes in the history of trailer building. We stock the matching brake shoe sets and brake expanders in original equipment quality.
- Axle designs: Peitz axles (e.g. EBG series) are known for being easy to maintain. Thanks to standardised wheel bearings and grease caps, they can often be kept in good repair with little effort.
- Compatibility: Many Peitz parts are still produced today to the original specifications of BPW or AL-KO, guaranteeing a complete supply of spare parts.
Repair instead of replacement
Owning Peitz running gear means relying on solid German engineering. By replacing wearing parts such as drawbars, bellows or brake cables, the full functionality and roadworthiness of an "old" Peitz trailer can often be secured for many more years.
