About Nieper (Ferdinand Nieper Söhne)
Nieper is a long-established manufacturer from Solingen that has stood for excellent metalworking and innovative running gear technology for more than 150 years. While many manufacturers rely on standardised mass-produced goods, Nieper has specialised in high-quality, durable axle systems that are particularly valued for their superior ride comfort. Nieper axles are often found on premium trailers, mobile sales trailers and vehicles that require particularly smooth suspension (e.g. for fragile goods or in the caravan sector).
Technical speciality: the torsion bar axle
A unique feature of Nieper is its expertise in torsion bar suspension. Compared with the widespread rubber suspension, this system offers longer spring travel and a more progressive spring rate, which effectively minimises bouncing of unladen trailers.
- Axle designs: In addition to torsion bar axles, Nieper also manufactures extremely robust rubber suspension axles with square or hexagonal axle tubes, which are known for their directional stability.
- Braking systems: Nieper generally uses braking technology from Knott or integrates its own high-precision wheel brakes that are perfectly matched to the axle loads.
- Ease of maintenance: A hallmark of Nieper is its repair-friendly design. Many components are designed so that they can be serviced or replaced without difficulty even after years of use.
- One-off production: Nieper is the first port of call for replacement axles for older trailers, as the factory is able to manufacture axles to individual dimensions (mounting width/flange dimension).
