Description
The castle nut is an axle nut in the less common M22 size with fine thread. It is secured with a split pin passed through the castellations and the hole in the axle journal.
When replacing, check not only the thread and across-flats size but also the low height, so that the split pin hole and castellations line up. Use a new split pin each time and adjust the bearing as specified by the axle manufacturer.
